A young frisky Brown Bear near the Russian River was a good subject to take pictures of , although he spent little time in the open , the pictures I did get were most unusual this August of 2018 . The second run of sockeye salmon (Reds) did not show up until unusually late in the season which meant less fishermen and more Brown Bears in search of the missing second run. They did show up late however and I imagine this particular brown bear went back to its normal habitat after finding more humans than salmon near the confluence . Russian River closes for salmon fishing around time I was able to take this picture from across stream . A combination of events brought this young bear near humans , but I’m sure it did not stick around.
